Participating in a representative democracy means knowing more about who represents you and how you can get in touch with them. We are working to reduce barriers to participation in democracy. This is the first step towards engagement with your representative.

Age of Reason
The Age of Reason site presents bills that are currently before parliament and encourages you to email your MP directly with your opinion on a specific bill before they cast their vote on it.
Age of Reason makes it easy for Australians to participate in – and positively influence – our democracy. It helps you find your representatives and learn more about them, invites you to choose from a list of current bills, then guides you in drafting an email explaining your opinions and reasons.
As we saw with Australian Government’s rushed Social Media ban for under 16’s, the window of opportunity for constituents to raise critical concerns and suggested improvements can sometimes be embarrassingly small. The ultimate objective of Age of Reason is for MPs to gather more and better feedback on a bill before they vote on it in parliament, and Australians to experience what it’s like to actually help shape decisions because of improved systems of democratic communication.
